Rajasthan Royals Edge Gujarat Titans by 6 Runs in IPL 2026 Thriller
7th April 2026
Six runs. That is all that separated Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans in a pulsating IPL 2026 contest at the Narendra Modi Stadium. RR’s 210/6 – built on a sensational 75 off 42 from Dhruv Jurel – proved just enough despite GT’s furious late charge that took them to 204/8.
Rajasthan Royals Innings – 210/6
Rajasthan chose to bat and got off to a flying start. Yashasvi Jaiswal made 55 off 36 (6 fours, 3 sixes) before Kagiso Rabada bowled him. Vaibhav Suryavanshi blasted 31 off 18 at the top of the order before falling to Rashid Khan. But it was Dhruv Jurel who provided the match-defining innings: 75 off 42 with 5 fours and 5 sixes, caught by Jos Buttler off Mohammed Siraj in the penultimate over with the score at 205. Shimron Hetmyer added a cameo 18 off 8 to push the total beyond 200.
For Gujarat, Kagiso Rabada was the best bowler – 2/42 from 4 overs. Rashid Khan (1/39) and Ashok Sharma (1/37) also picked up wickets.
Gujarat Titans Chase – 204/8
Gujarat’s reply was built around Sai Sudharsan’s composed 73 off 44, but the chase fell apart in the middle overs. Ravi Bishnoi took 4/41 from 4 overs as GT collapsed from 107/2 to 161/8. Rashid Khan (24 off 16) and Kagiso Rabada (23 not out off 16) added 43 for the 8th wicket in an extraordinary late flourish that nearly pulled off the impossible – but six runs short at the final whistle.
Jos Buttler made 26 off 14 before Nandre Burger had him caught, but the pressure of losing wickets in the middle overs proved too much for GT to overcome.
Statz Ratings
Ravi Bishnoi tops the Statz Rating for RR with 69.3 – four wickets at a crucial phase of the match earning him top billing. Dhruv Jurel (68.1) is a close second, his innings being the single biggest batting contribution in the game. Kagiso Rabada (53.2) earns third for GT despite being on the losing side, reflecting both his wicket-taking and his gutsy late batting. Sai Sudharsan (52.5) was Gujarat’s most impactful bat, and Rashid Khan (46.2) rounds out the top five.
Key Player: Ravi Bishnoi
Ravi Bishnoi came on with GT threatening to chase down a big total and took 4 wickets in 4 overs at the precise moment Rajasthan needed it most. Three consecutive dismissals – Glenn Phillips, Washington Sundar, and Rahul Tewatia – dismantled GT’s middle order and effectively ended the contest. Statz Rating: 69.3.
