Islamabad United Cruise Past Rawalpindiz by 7 Wickets in PSL 2026
7th April 2026
Islamabad United steamrolled Rawalpindiz by 7 wickets with 34 balls remaining at Gaddafi Stadium in the 12th match of PSL 2026. A masterclass in disciplined bowling restricted Rawalpindiz to 156/7, and Sameer Minhas then blazed 70 off 36 to make the chase look straightforward.
Rawalpindiz Innings – 156/7
Islamabad chose to field after winning the toss and had immediate impact. Richard Gleeson ripped through the top order, dismissing Mohammad Rizwan for 2 and Yasir Khan for 2 inside the first two overs. Rawalpindiz were 15/2 at the end of the fourth over and never fully recovered.
Kamran Ghulam was the only batter to genuinely build an innings, making 50 off 39 before Devon Conway pouched him off Faheem Ashraf. Dian Forrester smashed an unbeaten 44 off 19 to rescue some respectability in the final overs, but Rawalpindiz’s total of 156 was always likely to be short.
For Islamabad, Richard Gleeson finished with 2/21 from 4 overs and Faheem Ashraf took 2/22 from 4. Imad Wasim was exceptional in the middle – 1/15 from 4 overs at an economy of 3.75.
Islamabad United Chase – 157/3
Islamabad’s chase was commanded by Sameer Minhas. The opener made 70 off 36 – 7 fours and 4 sixes – before Jalat Khan had him caught by Daryl Mitchell in the 9th over with the target all but achieved. Devon Conway fell early for 6, but that barely mattered as Haider Ali (26 not out off 16) and Mark Chapman (24 not out off 7, SR 342.86) finished the job in brutal fashion.
Rawalpindiz used seven bowlers without landing a breakthrough of significance. Mohammad Amir took the only early wicket (Conway), but the required run rate was never threatening enough to put the pressure back on Islamabad.
