Scotland beat Namibia by 19 runs – T20I 2nd Match Report

17th April 2026

Scotland claimed a 2-0 series lead over Namibia with a 19-run victory in the 2nd T20I at Namibia Cricket Ground, Windhoek on Friday, completing a clean sweep of the two-match series. Mackenzie Jones was the difference – his four-wicket haul when it mattered most broke Namibia’s chase and earned him Statz MVP honours with a rating of 82.

Scotland posted 157/8 from their 20 overs after choosing to bat. The innings found its rhythm through the middle order rather than the top – George Munsey went for 10, Finlay McCreath fell for a duck and the visitors were 2 down early. Brandon McMullen (27 off 20, SR 135) and skipper Scotland captain Richie Berrington (19 off 11, SR 172.73) put on a crucial partnership to stabilise, before Owen Gould (24 off 24) kept the tempo steady. Jack Jarvis was destructive at the death, hammering 32 not out off just 18 balls (SR 177.78), with Oliver Davidson adding 16 off 13 to give Scotland a competitive total.

Jack Brassell was Namibia’s pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets for 26 runs from his 4 overs at an economy of 6.5, while Jan Balt took 2 for 27. Ruben Trumpelmann was expensive at 9 runs per over despite taking two wickets.

Namibia Chase Falls Short

Namibia’s chase started boldly. Gerhard Erasmus was the standout bat with 47 off 30 (SR 156.67) and Louren Steenkamp gave them an aggressive foundation with 25 off 18 at the top. At 96/3 with 9 overs remaining, the chase was very much alive. That’s when Mackenzie Jones stepped up.

Jones removed Erasmus, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Jan Frylinck, Jan Balt and Ruben Trumpelmann to finish with 4 for 22 from 4 overs at an economy of 5.5 – a match-winning spell that tore the heart out of the chase. Namibia’s lower order had no answer. The hosts were eventually bowled out for 138, leaving Scotland winners by 19 runs.

Oliver Davidson also bowled well with 1 for 14 from 4 overs, the tightest economy of Scotland’s attack.

Statz MVP: Mackenzie Jones – 82

Mackenzie Jones tops the Statz Rating for this match with an 82 – well-deserved given his four wickets came at the precise moment the game was in the balance. He was also named Player of the Match. His spell of 4-1-22-4 at 5.5 economy in a 157-target chase did the bulk of the defensive work while Namibia were still threatening.
