Rubin Hermann provided a solid 39 off 31 at the top with Wiaan Mulder, and Dian Forrester (21 not out off 13) swept up in the closing overs. South Africa’s 187/4 was comfortably their best total of the series.

New Zealand Chase – 154/8
New Zealand needed 188 and never really looked like getting there. Bevon Jacobs gave the chase brief momentum with 36 off 19 (SR 189.47) but they lost wickets too regularly. Gerald Coetzee (2/21, econ 5.25) and Ottneil Baartman (2/33) did the damage. New Zealand could only muster 154/8 – a gutsy effort given the target, but 33 short in the end.
