Bruno Fernandes’ 2025/26 Season in Numbers – The Premier League’s Ultimate Creator
11th June 2026
When people talk about the best players in the Premier League this season, the conversation usually starts with Erling Haaland and his 27 goals. Fair enough. But if you’re looking at the player who ran the show more than anyone else, who pulled more strings, created more chances, and made the players around him better – there’s only one answer.
Bruno Fernandes has had a ridiculous season. And the numbers back it up across the board.
The Assist King
Fernandes finished the 2025/26 Premier League campaign with 21 assists – nine clear of second-placed Rayan Cherki (12). That’s not a gap. That’s a chasm. Almost double the next best player in the league in an entire season of football.
To put it in context, Fernandes was averaging 0.6 assists per game across 35 appearances. In a league where most creative players are happy with one every three or four matches, he was producing at almost one every two.
More Than Just Assists
It’s not just the final ball. Fernandes ranked 1st in the Premier League for key passes (138), 1st for big chances created (32), and 1st for through-balls (27). He was the most creative player in the division by every meaningful measure.
His closest challenger for key passes was Dominik Szoboszlai with 78 – not even close. For big chances created, the next best was Szoboszlai again with 18. Fernandes was almost operating in a different league to the rest of the competition.
He also ranked 5th for accurate crosses with 54, showing he wasn’t just threading passes through the middle. He was a threat from every angle.
A Goal Threat Too
While the creative numbers jump off the page, Fernandes was no passenger in front of goal either. He scored 9 goals and ranked 4th in the entire league for shots with 85 – putting him ahead of the likes of Igor Thiago (84), Morgan Gibbs-White (83), and Ollie Watkins (83).
His 25 shots on target placed him comfortably inside the top 20 among all Premier League players. He was having a pop from everywhere and more often than not, testing the keeper.
The Complete Package
What makes Fernandes’ season special isn’t just one stat in isolation – it’s how dominant he was across the full range. He ranked 1st in four separate statistical categories simultaneously:
- Key Passes: 138 (1st of 430 players)
- Assists: 21 (1st of 289 players)
- Big Chances Created: 32 (1st of 337 players)
- Through Balls: 27 (1st of 253 players)
- Rating: 7.79 (1st of 461 players)
That last one is worth noting. Fernandes also finished with the highest average match rating in the entire Premier League at 7.79, ahead of Haaland (7.34). Across a full season of 35 games, that level of consistency is remarkable.
Man Utd’s Engine
Manchester United finished 3rd in the table – their best league finish in years – and it’s no coincidence that Fernandes was the driving force behind it. United ranked 1st for total shots (596) and 3rd for goals scored (69), and so much of that output ran through their captain.
Fernandes wasn’t just United’s best player. He was the Premier League’s most impactful. The numbers don’t lie.
