Canada vs Bosnia and Herzegovina – World Cup 2026 Group B
Kick-off: Friday 12 June 2026, 20:00 BST | Competition: World Cup 2026 – Group B
This is what it’s all about, isn’t it? Canada playing at a home World Cup with genuine knockout-stage ambitions and a squad that’s been building towards this moment for the best part of a decade. The Jonathan David-led attack, Alphonso Davies bombing down the left – this group feels tailor-made for the co-hosts to make a statement.
Bosnia, meanwhile, are in a different phase entirely. The golden generation of Dzeko, Pjanic and company has moved on. Ermedin Demirovic now leads the line and he’s a tidy enough striker – but this is a squad that qualified as a minor miracle and will fancy themselves as disruptors rather than genuine contenders. Sead Kolasinac still adds some grit and experience in defence, but the ceiling here is probably a respectable showing rather than anything dramatic.
Lineups aren’t confirmed yet – we’ll update closer to kick-off once they drop.
Statz Projections
The Statz model projects Canada 1.6 – 0.8 Bosnia and Herzegovina. That’s a pretty comfortable home win on paper.
Win probabilities break down as Canada 57%, Draw 25%, Bosnia 19%. Canada at 1.80 carry a slim +1.2% edge over the model’s implied price, while the draw at 3.60 and Bosnia win at 4.50 both sit slightly below fair value.
The goals markets are interesting. Over 1.5 goals is priced at 1.40 (-1.0% edge) and Over 2.5 at 2.20 (-0.9%) – both basically fair. BTTS at 2.00 sits at -4.9%, which the model doesn’t love at all. Canada’s defensive projection is solid enough that Bosnia finding the net isn’t a given.
Where the real value sits is in the team props. Canada Over 12.5 Shots at 1.50 (+7.3% edge) stands out – the model expects the hosts to pepper the Bosnia goal. Canada Over 4.5 Corners at 1.73 (+6.3% edge) is another angle worth filing away.
Group B Context
The Statz group standings projection has Switzerland on 5.7 points (45% to top the group), Canada on 5.6 points (42%), Bosnia on 3.3 points (10%), and Qatar bringing up the rear on 2.0 points (3%). Canada and Switzerland are expected to be neck and neck – which makes a strong start here feel essential for the co-hosts.

Bet Builder
Four legs from the Statz Bet Builder, combining for odds of 21.26:
Leg 1: Ermedin Demirovic 1+ Shots on Target
Odds: 2.10 | Hit rate: 100% | Last 5: 1, 3, 1, 1, 1
The Bosnia frontman has hit the target in every one of his last five. He’s their main outlet and even in a game where Bosnia are likely to sit deep, he’ll get his chances on the break. Rock-solid record here.
Leg 2: Sead Kolasinac 2+ Fouls
Odds: 2.10 | Hit rate: 80% | Last 5: 3, 2, 2, 1, 2
The veteran defender will be busy all night trying to deal with Canada’s pace out wide. He’s committed 2+ fouls in four of his last five – this is just how he plays. Physical, committed, and usually in the book for at least a couple.
Leg 3: Esmir Bajraktarevic 1+ Shots on Target
Odds: 3.00 | Hit rate: 60% | Last 5: 0, 3, 0, 2, 1
The young Canadian winger is streaky – when he’s on, he’s very much on (three SOT two games ago). At 3.00 he’s the speculative leg that pumps up the combined price. Worth the risk given the model expects Canada to rack up the shots.
Leg 4: Nikola Katic 1+ Shots
Odds: 1.57 | Hit rate: 60% | Last 5: 0, 3, 2, 0, 2
The Bosnia centre-back gets forward for set pieces and has managed at least one shot in three of his last five. At the shortest price of the four legs, this is the anchor.
Combined odds: 21.26. That’s a decent return if all four click.
The Angle
Canada should control this game. The Statz model has them at 57% to win, projected for 1.6 goals, and – crucially – expected to dominate the shot count. Canada Over 12.5 Shots at 1.50 with a +7.3% edge is the standout single-market play here. The co-hosts will want to put on a show in front of their own fans, and Bosnia’s defensive setup is likely to invite pressure rather than snuff it out.
The bet builder at 21.26 combined is more of a speculative play than a stone-cold value pick – Bajraktarevic’s inconsistency and Katic’s set-piece dependency make it lumpy. But the Demirovic SOT and Kolasinac fouls legs are backed by strong recent form, and if Canada do pile on the pressure as expected, the other two have a decent shot at landing too.
Canada to win at 1.80 is close to fair value but doesn’t scream edge. If you’re looking for a single bet, the shots line is where the model sees the biggest gap between price and probability.
