Goals: Ivan Toney is the Best Striker in Saudi Arabia
The conversation starts with Ivan Toney. Al Ahli’s English striker leads the Saudi Pro League for goals (26), goal involvements (31), and shot conversion rate (34.7%). He has scored 8 penalties. Konstantinos Fortounis at Al Khaleej leads assists outright with 11 – a quietly brilliant creative season from the Greek midfielder. Mateo Retegui at Al-Qadsiah leads times hit post with 7 – the most of any player in Saudi football this year.
The Bigger Picture
Beyond the European stars, the Saudi Pro League data shows a thriving ecosystem. Yannick Carrasco at Al Shabab has 15 goals including 8 penalties and 37 shots on target. Roger Martínez at Al Taawoun has 20 goals and 22 goal involvements – quietly one of the best performers in the entire division.
Georginio Wijnaldum at Al Ettifaq has missed 13 big chances – a frustrating season for the Dutchman who has the opportunities but not the end product. Darwin Núñez at Al Hilal has also missed 14 big chances, tied with Ronaldo at the top of that list.
