Rajasthan Royals beat Lucknow Super Giants by 40 Runs – IPL 2026 Match Report

22nd April 2026

Rajasthan Royals ended Lucknow Super Giants’ night at Ekana with a dominant 40-run win, posting 159/6 before bowling the hosts out for 119. Mohsin Khan’s miserly spell with the ball set the tone – 2/17 from four overs at an economy of 4.25 – and the Royals’ attack didn’t let up from there.

How It Unfolded

LSG won the toss and chose to field, but it backfired from the outset. Rajasthan’s innings never threatened to explode – Yashasvi Jaiswal was gone for 22 off 12 inside three overs, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi added just 8 before Mohsin Khan removed him. At 32/3 with Dhruv Jurel also back in the hut, the platform looked shaky.

It was Ravindra Jadeja who steadied things in the middle overs. His 43* off 29 balls – calm, measured, picking gaps – proved the backbone of RR’s total. Riyan Parag (20 off 19) and Shimron Hetmyer (22 off 18) contributed before Donovan Ferreira (20 off 19) and Shubham Dubey (19* off 11) pushed the total to 159/6. Not huge, but the Ekana surface had other ideas for LSG.

LSG’s chase fell apart almost immediately. Mitchell Marsh top-scored with 55 off 41 but was left stranded as wickets tumbled around him. Rishabh Pant went for a duck, Aiden Markram made 0, and by the end of the 10th over LSG were 54/4 with Pooran’s 22 the only other score of note. Jofra Archer took 3/20 from four tight overs, with Nandre Burger (2/27) and Brijesh Sharma (2/18) wrapping up the tail. LSG were bowled out for 119 in 18 overs – 40 short of what they needed.

Statz Ratings

Statz Cricket’s match ratings ran the numbers on every player in the game. Mohsin Khan topped the chart with a 72.1 Statz Rating – two wickets, nine dots, four overs, 17 runs. Jadeja was close behind on 60.9, his batting impact and a crucial wicket combining well. Archer’s 53.0 reflected how clinical he was with the old ball.

For LSG, Mitchell Marsh’s 46.2 was the standout – he gave it a go when others didn’t – but it wasn’t enough to shift the result. Mohammed Shami rounded out the top five on 42.6 with his 2/30.

Statz MVP: Mohsin Khan – 72.1/100 (2/17, Econ 4.25, 4 overs)
