SRH vs DC IPL 2026 Report: Abhishek Sharma’s 135* Powers Sunrisers to 47-Run Win

21st April 2026

Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a colossal 242/2 and then rolled Delhi Capitals for 195/9 to win by 47 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Tuesday. Abhishek Sharma’s 135 not out off 68 balls was the difference – a knock of outright savagery that put SRH in a position DC could never seriously challenge.

Sharma Makes History

Abhishek Sharma opened the batting and refused to stop. His 135* is one of the highest individual scores in IPL history and it came in under 70 balls – 10 fours, 10 sixes, a strike rate of 198.53. DC had no answer. Mukesh Kumar went for 53 from 4 overs, Nitish Rana leaked 55 from 4, Kuldeep Yadav 30 from 2. Even Axar Patel, who chipped in with 1/23, could not stem the tide.

Travis Head contributed 37 off 26 at the top before being caught off Axar Patel. Ishan Kishan hit 25 off 13 – a run out removing him in the 15th over – and then Heinrich Klaasen arrived to add an unbeaten 37 off 13 in the final overs. SRH reached 242/2 – their highest total of the IPL 2026 season. Abhishek was still standing.

DC’s Chase: Three Down in Six Balls

DC needed 243. They needed a miracle. For a while, it did not look entirely impossible.

Pathum Nissanka was dismissed early for 8, caught at slip off Dilshan Madushanka in the second over. But Lokesh Rahul and Nitish Rana built a solid second-wicket stand to take DC to 107/1 – still with the run rate manageable, just about, if the back end could explode. It could not.

In the space of six balls, DC lost three wickets without adding a run. Rahul went for 37, Rana for 57 and David Miller for 0, all three falling in overs 9 and 10. 107/1 became 107/4 in the blink of an eye and the chase was dead. Eshan Malinga was the wrecker – 4/32 off 4 overs, collecting Rana, Miller, Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma. Harsh Dubey mopped up with 3/12 off 2, and Sakib Hussain chipped in with 1/29.

Sameer Rizvi made a fighting 41 off 28 in the middle overs and Tristan Stubbs added 27 off 16, but DC were always playing catch-up. They finished on 195/9 – a deficit of 47 that flattered them slightly given how comprehensively the chase collapsed.
