Peshawar Zalmi beat Hyderabad Kingsmen by 4 Wickets – PSL 2026 Match Report
8th April 2026
Peshawar Zalmi beat Hyderabad Kingsmen by 4 wickets off the very last ball at National Stadium, Karachi, on 8 April 2026. The 15th match of PSL 2026 was a thriller – Zalmi’s chase of 146 went to the final delivery, Iftikhar Ahmed finishing 15* to seal a nervy four-wicket win.
First Innings: Hyderabad Kingsmen 145/10 (18.2 overs)
Hyderabad Kingsmen were in serious trouble at 34/4 inside five overs. Iftikhar Ahmed ran through the top order with four wickets, dismissing Maaz Sadaqat (17 off 8), Saim Ayub (14 off 15), Sharjeel Khan (2 off 5), and Usman Khan (0 off 1) to leave the innings in tatters. Economy of 5.25 from Iftikhar’s 4 overs was control as much as carnage.
Kusal Perera and Marnus Labuschagne provided the recovery. Labuschagne ground out 27 off 27 to stabilise before Perera cut loose – 58 off 35 balls at 165.71 SR, five fours and two sixes, the only Kingsmen batter to seriously trouble the Zalmi bowlers. The Perera-Labuschagne stand took HK from 34/4 to 116 by the 14th over. After both departed, the last four wickets added just 29 runs as Sufiyan Muqeem (4/32) mopped up the tail. HK were bowled out for 145 in 18.2 overs.
Second Innings: Peshawar Zalmi 146/6 (20 overs)
Chasing 146, Peshawar Zalmi‘s chase was anything but straightforward. Babar Azam (43 off 37) and Kusal Mendis (27 off 23) provided a foundation, taking the score to 104/3 by the 13th over. Michael Bracewell chipped in with 25 off 19 before Saim Ayub removed both Bracewell and Mendis to leave Zalmi in the deep at 125/6 in the 17th over.
Iftikhar Ahmed and Aamer Jamal (6* off 10) then navigated the final three overs to sneak Zalmi home. Iftikhar hit a four and a six in his unbeaten 15 off 10 to keep the equation manageable. Zalmi reached 146/6 off the last ball of the 20th over, winning by 4 wickets with nothing to spare.
Saim Ayub finished with 2/19 from 4 overs (economy 4.75) and was one of the few Kingsmen bowlers to generate consistent threat. Hunain Shah took 1/32, Maheesh Theekshana 1/36, Hassan Khan 1/25.
Statz MVP: Iftikhar Ahmed – 99.8
Iftikhar Ahmed earns the Statz MVP with 99.8 – and it is hard to argue. Four wickets with the ball (21 runs from 4 overs, economy 5.25) dismantled Hyderabad’s top order and set up Zalmi’s win before it even started. Then 15* with the bat in a tight finish completed a match-winning all-round contribution. The Statz Rating formula rewards impact across both disciplines, and Iftikhar delivered in both.
Top 5 Statz Ratings
- Iftikhar Ahmed (PZ) – 99.8: 4/21 with ball, 15* with bat. Match-winning all-round show.
- Saim Ayub (HK) – 48.0: 2/19 off 4 overs in the chase. The pick of the Kingsmen bowling.
- Sufiyan Muqeem (PZ) – 37.6: 4/32 off 4 overs. Cleaned up HK’s middle and lower order.
- Kusal Perera (HK) – 37.2: 58 off 35. The only HK batter to really hurt Zalmi.
- Michael Bracewell (PZ) – 25.8: 25 off 19. Valuable contribution through the middle in the chase.
Turning Point
Iftikhar’s opening spell was the match’s defining passage. Hyderabad at 34/4 in 5 overs were always going to struggle to post a competitive total. Kusal Perera and Labuschagne salvaged things to some extent, but 145 was below par at Karachi. The chase was tight but Zalmi were always slight favourites once they lost only two wickets in the first 13 overs.
Competition Context
Peshawar Zalmi take four points from PSL 2026 Match 15 in what remains a tight competition. Hyderabad Kingsmen will reflect on a batting collapse that made life far harder than it needed to be. Full scorecard and Statz Ratings on statz.ai.
