Football League Projections: Title Race Edges and Value Bets Across Europe
16th April 2026
With six or seven gameweeks left in most leagues, the title races, top-four battles and relegation scraps are crystallising fast. Statz runs season-long projections across the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Championship – simulating thousands of scenarios to project final standings and compare those implied probabilities against the current betting market. Here is where the model is finding the most interesting discrepancies right now.
Premier League: Arsenal Huge Value – Man City the Fade
The standout call from the Statz Premier League projections is Arsenal to win the title.
The model gives Arsenal an 85.17% chance of winning the Premier League this season. Bet365 have them at 1.615 (61.9% implied). That is a significant gap – Statz sees Arsenal as near-certain champions, the market is pricing a real contest. With Arsenal on 70 points and projected to finish on 82.40, the model is not seeing any realistic route back for the chasing pack.
Man City are the flip side of that coin. Statz gives them a 14.83% chance – but their projected final points tally of 77.17 leaves them trailing Arsenal on the model. Yet Bet365 still have them at 2.25 (44.4% implied). The market is pricing a City comeback the model simply does not see. City at 2.25 is the clearest fade in English football right now according to Statz.
At the bottom, the Statz point projections paint a brutal picture. Burnley (projected 23.88 pts, actual 20) and Wolves (23.12 pts, actual 17) are effectively marooned. Spurs at 18th with 30 actual points and a projected ceiling of 48 look in serious danger – the model has their minimum at 30, which means no guaranteed safety. West Ham are similar: 32 points actual, projected 38.52, range of 32-50. Three clubs still genuinely in the mire with their point floor matching their current total.
La Liga: Real Madrid Value Against Barcelona
The La Liga projections have Barcelona as overwhelming favourites with a 95.21% title probability. The market agrees – they are 1.01 at Bet365, which is not a bet.
But Real Madrid is where the value sits. Statz gives them a 4.79% shot at the title – implying odds of around 20.9. Bet365 have them at 34. That gap (34 vs 20.9 implied) represents meaningful positive expected value on a Real Madrid title. They are 12 points behind Barcelona with a game in hand on the model data, and Statz sees them as live at a far shorter probability than the current market price reflects.
At the other end, the La Liga relegation battle is tight. Oviedo (27 actual pts, projected 30.67) and Levante (29 pts, projected 35.01) are in the danger zone. Elche at 32 points and Sevilla at 34 are also in range. Four clubs within 7 points of each other in a very tight scrap.
Serie A: Inter Done, AC Milan vs the Model
The Serie A projections are settled at the top. Inter have a 99.92% title probability – they are done. The Statz model has them at 1.001, Bet365 at 1.01. No edge there.
The genuinely puzzling number is AC Milan. Statz projects them in third place with 73.03 points, and their win probability is 0.00% – they cannot overhaul Inter. Yet Bet365 still have Milan to win the title at 6.50. The model gives them zero realistic shot. That 6.5 might attract some interest from optimists, but Statz is firmly on the other side of that trade.
Como in fifth on 58 actual points is one of the stories of the season in Europe – their projected final tally of 71.16 would be a remarkable debut campaign in Serie A. Hellas Verona (18 pts, projected 22.90) and Pisa (18 pts, projected 25.24) look doomed at the bottom, with Cremonese and Lecce also in serious danger.
Bundesliga: Bayern Done, Interesting Race Below
The Bundesliga is settled. Bayern have a 100% title probability per Statz (76 actual points, projected 88.51). They are at 1.001 at Bet365 – correctly priced, nothing to do.
The European places are more interesting. Dortmund sit second at 64 points with a projected 73.45 – but the market still has them at 101 to win the title. That is just legacy odds that have not been fully marked down yet. The real race is for the remaining Champions League spots. Stuttgart (56 pts), RB Leipzig (56 pts) and Leverkusen (52 pts) are fighting for third and fourth. The Bundesliga only has two CL spots plus the champion – Stuttgart and Leipzig look to have the edge on current points but it is tight.
At the bottom, Wolfsburg (21 pts, projected 25.70) and Heidenheim (19 pts, projected 23.77) are the most vulnerable with six games to play.
Championship: Coventry Virtually Up, Crazy Bottom Half
The Championship projections have Coventry as 99.73% certainties to win the title – 85 points, projected 92.71. The title race is over.
The automatic promotion race is done too – Ipswich in second have 75 points, but Middlesbrough (72 pts, projected 79.88) are close. Ipswich to finish top two at 41 looks like a fade at that price given their buffer and Statz’s 0.27% win probability for them in the title race – but they are almost certainly going up.
The most remarkable data point in the Championship table: Sheffield Wednesday are listed at -4 actual points and a projected -1.75. That is not a typo – it reflects a points deduction. They are bottom with effectively no points and relegated.
The playoff picture is chaotic. From 3rd (M’Boro, 72 pts) to 17th (Preston, 57 pts), it is genuinely wide open. Fifteen points covering fourteen clubs. Wrexham at 1001 to win the Championship feels like it is being priced as a curiosity bet rather than a real market – they are 8th on 64 points with a 68.50 projected total.
